About Us

A devoted husband and father, Dr. Sowders and his wife Erin have one young – and busy! – child named Raylon. When he’s not caring for smiles, Dr. Sowders enjoys spending time with his family and their Mini Wheaten Terrier named Lizzie B., being outdoors, and perfecting his grilling skills!

Continually focused on helping each of his patients achieve and maintain excellent oral health, Dr. Sowders has a special interest in digital dentistry and providing general treatments and procedures to patients of all ages and comfort levels. Improving smiles and getting patients out of pain is his mission, and he goes above and beyond to care for every person as he would his own mother.

A Kentucky native, Dr. Sowders achieved his DMD degree from Midwestern University’s College of Dental Medicine-Arizona and is passionate about pursuing continuing education that benefits his patients’ oral and overall health.

Although dentistry is an extremely high priority to Dr. Roser, he manages to find some time for several hobbies. Road running with friends, hunting with Zeke, farming with his father, and greenhouse gardening with Abe allow Doc plenty of time to relax and reinvigorate. Bike rides with his wife and all eight children are a major highlight for the entire family. And, as a good neighbor, Dr. Roser contributes to many community events from 4H and summer ball league to fundraising 5K runs. He also provides free dental care through the Dentistry From The Heart national program one day each autumn. Dr. Roser is a deacon at Grace Fellowship Church and a member of the Kiwanis Club.

Because his goal is to always provide the best care for your family, Dr. Roser eagerly investigates how to improve your dental experiences using advanced techniques and dental technologies. Ongoing education for himself and his team ensures that Dr. Roser’s patients are always getting the best that dentistry has to offer. His continuing education includes Invisalign® certification, using dental implants to replace missing teeth, and using IV sedation so you can feel comfortable and relaxed. Using technology designed to improve your experience, Dr. Roser embraces 3D printing and using an onsite CAD/CAM mill to create beautiful restorations in less time than by using an off-site lab. His primary goal is to improve your overall well-being by improving the function and longevity of your oral health.

Born and raised in Albion, Dr. Timothy Roser graduated from Edwards County High School before venturing out to earn his dental degree. He looked forward to returning to southeastern Illinois to make a difference in his neighbors' health. After receiving his undergraduate education from Wabash Valley College and SIUE, Dr. Roser went on to earn his doctorate from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. Because coming home to practice was his ideal, Dr. Roser opened his practice in Carmi shortly after graduation and has been serving his community neighbors ever since.

Dr. Voyles grew up in Effingham, a small-town community with good people. When choosing a new home after dental school, he chose Carmi because it has the same feel as home. He and his wife Emily have a one-year-old son named Liam. Rounding out his family are two lovely cats … Mac and Bowtie. In his spare time, Dr. Voyles enjoys bow hunting, fishing, and working outdoors. As avid travelers, he and Emily hope to one day visit every continent – and only have three to go! The Voyles family attends First Christian Church in Carmi.

After attending SIUE to obtain his bachelor’s in biology and medical science, Dr. Voyles attended Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. After earning his doctorate in 2014, he moved to Carmi to begin a career at Carmi Family Dental. A dedicated learner, Dr. Voyles continually upgrades his education so he can bring you the advantages that come with new techniques and technologies – and a healthy, confidence-inspiring smile.
